Good-Bye to the Red Hawk students and faculty

The first-ever group of students and staff at the Miami Debate Institute Red Hawk program left Oxford this morning, by car, bus and plane. I've learned from the dorm staff that all students left without a problem (except for Gabe, who I heard is still hanging out at the Cincinnati airport with Mr. Beisch!).

The Red Hawk participants finished up their experience yesterday with tournament elimination rounds (pictures coming), a rousing closing ceremony where every member was introduced and applauded individually, and a movie shown at Bachelor Hall.

Of course after that they had hours of room cleaning to do before checkout!

We would also like to recognize their dedicated and talented teaching staff: Todd Lantz (Iowa), Ed Lee (Emory), Nikhil Mirchandani (Harvard), Nicole Serrano (Lexington), Sarah Spring (Miami) and Paul Strait (George Mason). Every student I've spoken with said they found their experience here extremely educational - due to the efforts of their teachers.

We congratulate both the students and faculty on a successful inaugural workshop and wish them the best of luck this year. We hope to hear from all of them regarding their accomplishments this season.

I think that was a phenomenal first camp ever, i was kind of worried at first but it was definitely an awesome experience. The MSS lab leaders (and i'm sure the LLS ones too, i just didnt spend time with them) were absolutely brilliant and i'm every bit glad i came to this camp.

Just for the record, when i told my coach about our ASPEC happening, he laughed. and laughed. and laughed some more.

Thanks,
Anjali

This is definately the best camp I have ever been too. It is also the only camp I have ever been too. That doesn't change things. Yall rocked and yall rocked hard! The fact that Gabe had to wait at the airport definately makes the camp about a billion times better. I think I speak for everyone in the LSS lab that our lab leaders made the camp about another billion times better. Their exceptional tallents, especially Nicoles ;-), brought the rest of us past our personal expectations. A closer taco bell would have helped but besides that, this camp definately rocked. Heres a shout out to (horse riding) Erin, (longue-toungued) Julia, and (half-irish) Phil and everyone else.

Peace Outs Cub Scouts,
~Chip

P.S. I cried myself to sleep because I missed camp. I had to listen to the Cure to stop crying.
cus boys dont cry lalala

Well thanks Steve for the great camp. I'm going to miss everyone there. I could quote some song like everyone else, but I don't think the lyrics from mine would go too well. Hope to see everyone next year during the debate season and maybe even camp again. And...Anjali and Libby...Sigh...Had to go for ASPEC....Haha oh well, it was a good round. Once again, thanks everyone and I'll hopefully see ya around.

Thank you Steve, the lab leaders and everyone else that made camp fun this year. Thanks in particular to Nikhil, for putting up with judging me and Scott at least 6 or 7 times. I learned so much at camp, such as how to question my white privilege and deconstruct neo-managerialism. Seriously though, I learned alot and had alot of fun at camp and I look forward to seeing all of you during the year. I will try to avoid finals losses to A-spec.

-Tony-

P.S.- Have you questioned your white privilege today? Movens, I can't get your annoying music out of my head.

nicole,

can you guess what S.I.I. means?

Anonymous said...

^^^That is Maggy. She doesn't want people to know ;-)

Anonymous said...

I don't like people claming to be me and posting, that just gets annoying !!

Anonymous said...

Chip Is Not Hip: NO HES NOT GAY! HES MY CUPCAKE

WOW!! that is a nice statement chip. would you care to make another?

Anonymous said...

Yes Maggy. I would.

Chip Is Not Hip: julia
Chip Is Not Hip: JULIA
nisqualitygurl: oh ya i have a crush on julia
^maggy^

So I post that and everyone is like, "Oh look! Maggy was a lesbian! Never knew!" However, I'm a nice guy! I'm not Michael Moore!
HeeHee! I'll give you guys the entire scoopilloopilloop, assuming people besides me still read this thread. So before that Maggy said, "CHIP STOP! IM STRAIGHT!" only with worse spelling. :-p See there is this thing called sarcasm. When you take sarcastic words out of context, it can be shocking to the ignorant reader. SHWING. What I said, however was not sarcastic.

OK. So I'm pretty secure with my heterosexuality. So secure that I can make homosexual comments on AIM and not care! Obviously I do care though because I am writing this comment. Let me put this statement into context. FIrst of all, I'm calling my cupcake not gay. When I say not gay I mean that this person is not homosexual. However, calling another man my cupcake is also homosexual! What a paradox! I was actually quoting Maggy! haha. Because she likes this guy, and I called him gay (dont kritik me) and she freaks out: nisqualitygurl: !! dont call him that
I was immitating how freaked out she got! Its cool though, Maggy!

OK! I want to make one more statement! Of Montreal is pretty sweet and you should all buy their albums!

I was going to say something which would make everyone's draw dropped but then I reallized I have a conscience! weeeeee!

drop*

Anonymous said...

First of all, everyone had a crush on Julia. Even you. Don't lie! There was truth to your sarcasm.

Next, I wasn't really calling him homosexual anyways. Duh. I was using gay the way it is usually used today by people who don't care about being politically correct. Gay pretty much has three definitions. 1.) Happy 2.) Homosexual 3.) Something or someone that really sucks!
Duh'

Anonymous said...

Obviously you haven't read the Julia DA. Haha Just kidding.

On a side note, what do you have against homosexual people?

Anonymous said...

You have become pretty defensive. It's also a funny coincidince how your gay friend lives all the way in seattle. I dont believe you! Why must you bring more hate into this world? Have not the republicans done that enough?

Anonymous said...

Of course that is what you would say if you were trying to hide your true identity. YOU HATER! YOU REPUBLICAN!

Anonymous said...

What does that have to do with being a hate filled Republican?

Anonymous said...

Proove it, you hate filled elephant! Quit hiding your ivory!

Anonymous said...

It's funny because I'm republican. Also, republicans aren't hate-filled by any means. Duh'

Anonymous said...

Unless you are Armenian!
Justtttttttt kiddddding!

Anonymous said...

It is funny how you took out your comment! It was a bit offensive anyways.

Anonymous said...

"since chip was trying to guess who i had a crush on a camp. obviously he wasnt very successful"
-quoted from maggy on July 23, 2005 at 11:55 PM

Are you sure you want to say that? I mean what if I did in fact guess who it is... What if in fact I had the AIM conversation still open? bwahahahaha

Anonymous said...

Just kidding! I wouldn't do that.

Anonymous said...

Thanks for a great camp! Bye everyone! (wish I didn't have to say that :()

chip bro,
they made these things called instant messengers...so you can have your little bickers with people not on a debate blogspot. Interesting concept isn't it?

HI ALL. Summers boring..BOO!
